Hola.

"The development of the self-propelled gun StuIG 33B started in September 20 1942 when the idea of creation of a vehicle for city warfare emerged at the Hitler's conference. Great fire power and good level of protection were named as main technical requirements. The 150 mm heavy infantry gun SIG 33 provided fire power. The level of protection was undoubtedly a step forward compared with the self-propelled guns with the same armament made on the chassis of the Pz.I and Pz.II tanks. The gun was to be placed inside the fully enclosed compartment with 80 mm front and 50 mm sides. After two days, in September 22, Hitler was told that the first 12 StuIGs were to be made at the beginning of October and the last 12 vehicles - in the late October of the same year. Germans built all the vehicles in time - the first dozen was ready in October 13 and in October 28 arrived to Stalingrad. Sturmgeschutz Abteilung 177 got six StuIGs and Sturmgeschutz Abteilung 244 - the remaining six. During city fighting StuIG33 B distinguished itself as a very useful weapon. It could easily destroy a stone house with two or three rounds and the thick armor protected the vehicle well enough. Still, during the battle of Stalingrad 16 of 24 StuIGs were destroyed or captured. The remaining 8 vehicles as part of 23 Panzer division took part in the summer campaign of 1943"

Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 177
Aug 42 transferred to the Stalingrad area
6 Nov 42 XIV Panzer Corps, 6th Army, Army Group B less one battery assigned to VIII Corps[Joachim: mid-Nov 42 2 batteries report strength of 11 vehicles; no data on third batterie]
Jan 1943 destroyed at Stalingrad
Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 244
6 Nov 42 LI Corps, 6th Army, Army Group B
[Joachim: mid-Nov 42 strength of 20 vehicles]
Jan 43 destroyed at Stalingrad
OOOOOOOOOOpsssssss
